Rock!

Finally got back to working on Rock Paper Scissors. Here’s a rough pass at Rock.

Paper rig test 2

Ok… I finally got the Paper rig to work. I think it looks pretty good. Ignore the flickering. Paper Rig Test 2 from James Kelly on Vimeo.

Paper rig test 1

Super basic rig test for Paper. I’m trying to get him to move like a person, but feel light like paper. Right now he feels a little rubbery. I have some more experimenting to do. Paper rigging test 1 from James Kelly on Vimeo.

Scissors fly around

A 6 second fly around of Scissors. No textures yet and it could use a little more detail. Click on the link below to view in hd. Scissors Fly Around from James Kelly on Vimeo.

Scissors Schematic

Here’s a “schematic” for scissors. It’s mostly to get the proportions right for modeling which comes next. Wouldn’t want to meet this guy in a dark alley. Unless I was made of Rock.

Rock Paper Scissors animatic 1

The very rough first pass at an animatic for scene one. It’s coming in at 1 minute, 15 seconds which is a little long, but I bet it’ll come down to a minute when I tighten everything up. Rock Paper Scissors scene 1 animatic v0.01 from James Kelly on Vimeo.

Paper design ideas

I’m looking around for design ideas. First for Paper. I’ve found a bunch of origami. Some great examples here, here and here. Love this one: Origami couple from Gilad’s Origami Page

Rock Paper Scissors Storyboards

Ok… Here are the very rough storyboards for Rock Paper Scissors. I’m no Picasso, but the gist of the story is in place. Next I fill in the holes and make an animatic… 1.1. Crunch! 1.2. 1.3. Paper inspects a pile of rocks.

the script

Rock Paper Scissors By James Kelly SCENE 1 CRUNCH! PAPER celebrates over a pile of rocks. He flips up and around, floats like air. He hears a metallic sound. He runs. SCISSORS charges after him. Faster, closer. Finally, Scissors catches up. A moment of fear from Paper. A moment of anticipation from Scissors. Scissors slices [...]

the plan

I’m still getting the hang of this theme, but the plan here is to create an animation totally out in the open. From script to boards to designs to modeling to animation to sound to done. I’m going to use Rock Paper Scissors. I’ve had this idea in my head for years, but only recently [...]
